HolyBatman

Is that a new update? Why yes, it is. I know I havent updated in months!!!

...So with that said, this is the first piece to my thesis. My thesis is a visual map of Tai Chi Chuan 32 fist form. The map tracks, movements and internal energy flowing within the body as one progresses through the forms. I am working with the notion of ideals by merging western drawings with eastern philosophy, and mathematically splitting geometry shap
es. The first piece is quite simple when compared to the later ones since it did not require me to introduce the 3rd dimensional yet. The pieces will be presented as 14x14 in drawings on watercolor paper.

Sins

Sketches of charactertures for Greed and Gluttony. I still need to tweak the design for Envy. I think I gonna do these by using a condensed watercolour wash, and then go over it with pastel pencils or color pencils.

Drafted Illustration?

Recently, I have been trying to incorporate technical drawing from architecture into my illustration work. This was a piece on the essence of a movie called Taken. (18x24 pen and ink) I'm not completely done with the piece yet as I still feel that there is something missing. But at the same time, I do not want to put too much black into the piece since I have a tendency to do so.....I am not sure what to think of it anymore, and it also turns out that some people cant tell Liam Neeson from Robert DeNiro....which I find strange.

LightDesign

This is a lighting unit that I originally designed for a lighting exhibition, but it was never submitted due to my laziness . The concept was to have these square lights in various sizes packed together to fill up an entire wall very much like the "Paris de Salon" of Academie des Beaux-Arts during 16-17th century.

After some careful measurement of the apartment, and consideration for ,my friend, Melissa's electricity bill, I decided to take a single unit from the lighting design, and blow it up to a 3 ft. x 3 ft. square, and presented it to her as a birthday present. I'm pretty glad with how it fits so well in her room.

This is the light during daytime.

and this it during nighttime.

DugUp

Found some old stuff on my hard drive from back when I was taking architectural courses .The project was "Home for a Day". It was a pretty fun project. Our clients gave us information about themselves, and we had the design a temporary place that they would stay at for a day. My design consists of a chapel area for praying, a bed, and a wall where blocks of the wall can be taken out to control light, as well as, allowing the wall pieces taken out to be used as furniture. It had to be all compacted into a 12' x 12' x 15' box. The location I chose to place my box was central park next to a few of those giant rocks.

SuperBigPost

I have gotten back into watercolors lately. This is a piece I did on
a 9x12 sheet of watercolor paper with a 3 color limited palette.

I finally learned how to paint with oils over the past half year or so. I enjoy everything about it except the cleaning up part.In the 3rd week into painting, I painted this on a 22x40 hand stretched canvas. I really began to play with the way I slopped on Gesso to create a texture even before painting on the canvas.

I'm really pleased with how this leg turned out.

Afterwards, I began to study generalizing shapes and colors.
I also began to add my study of light, and weight into the style.
I can see my paintings become more painterly as the weeks roll by.
These are both done on 30x40 canvases each.

For one of my final pieces, I took a coin from the Yang Dynasty (Chinese)
that has 1 inch in diameter and painted it on a 40x40 canvas. It turns out
that the bigger the canvas, the more I enjoy painting on it. I really want to
paint on a 120x120 or even bigger size, but I have no space for something
like that right now. Stretching a canvas that big must be crazy.

For my second piece, I studied Lucian Freud(a modern god of oils),and
his painting Reflection II. It was required that I use his palette
and techniques, so this is what I came up with this for my self portrait.
